Sculpey Bake Shop® Solar System 3D Poster Project
What Do You Need to Make a Clay Solar System?
Here's a comprehensive list of items you need to make an A+ project.
Sculpey Bake Shop® Multi-Pack 13-Piece
Our Bake Shop® clay multi-pack is soft and malleable, allowing kids and other beginners to express their creativity. This pack has 12 essential colors — white, beige, yellow, red, hot pink, blue, purple, orange, green, brown, tan and black — and a sculpting tool. Mix and match or use them as-is to bring your ideas to life.
This clay stays soft until you cure it in the oven, so you can use and reuse it as you wish! After you make your polymer clay solar system project, use the remaining clay to craft fun sculptures, keychains and so much more.
Sculpey Bake Shop® Eraser Multi-Pack Eight-Piece
If you want to give your clay solar system new life after it's graded, make it with our Bake Shop® eraser clay! After baking, this clay transforms into an eraser to keep with your school or art supplies.
Like many of our other clays, the eraser clay will stay soft until you bake it at 250 °F (121 °C) for 20 minutes per every 1/4 inch. Create your fun planet erasers in white, black, lime, red, yellow and blue!
Sculpey Air-Dry™ Clay
Sculpey Air-Dry™ clay is great for crafting if you plan to paint your solar system. This lightweight and durable clay will dry on its own over time — no baking time required! Once it's completely dry, you can add the finishing touches.
We offer our Air-Dry™ clay in neutral colors so you can add your own flair. Choose from a classic terracotta or bright white, and let your creativity run wild.
Additional Supplies for a Polymer Clay Solar System
While clay is the bulk of the project, additional supplies may be necessary to craft the ideal model. Here's what we used to create our demonstration below:
- 1/2” Black foam core board 15” X 20” or a 30” X 20” board cut in half
- Round toothpicks (5)
- Clear drying white craft glue
- White chalk
- Labels printed out on white copy paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Optional – Acrylic paint in Ultramarine, Night Sky, and True Blue
- Paintbrush
- Flat wire cutters
- Sharp craft knife
